Bill Concert, part two

I was afraid I would not get to meet Bill at all, but by God's grace I did. His wife was selling some of his cds, so I met her for a moment and bought the new album, Dear Life. After buying said album, I saw Bill walking right past me, so I gave him a pat on the back and thanked him, to which he joyfully responded and said that he had fun. Cheesy or not, it was an exciting time for me. I had it built up in my mind that it was impossible to meet people like him, in that he is a musical performer I really like. For instance, I don't expect to ever meet U2 b/c they are so big. But God was gracious in allowing me to be able to meet one of my favorite musicians. It was an exciting time. I hope to see many more concerts.

You have met others, such as Ed & Eddy, and did't you meet Elvis in Memphis? Get out of your room and go get involved on campus! Guess who(M)?

I'm glad that you had such a good time at the concert. The Larsens still have those two VOL discs I lent them forever ago. I'll tell them about your concert and then slyly mention the cds...

I downloaded a flash player, so my LT now plays internet cartoons just fine.

I've taken Chip and Dale on car rides respectively. Dale just sat and looked afraid, giving the occasional moan. Chip yowled the entire ride, seemingly at the top of his lungs, though he did look out the window a lot. I was playing DMB, so perhaps he was just singing along in his own way.

Last night around 10:30 I rented Pulp Fiction at the new Family Video on Republic (that's when I took Chip for a ride). It was a good movie. You might consider viewing it sometime. It was very postmodern...

I must say that I share your sheer terror with regard to meeting someone nearly-famous. It's almost like I don't want to 'bother' them or something like that. It's a strange feeling perhaps bordering on idolatry of sorts, but you would figure with idolatry I'd want to keep on and on and on with 'bugging' said person. I wound up staying around until nearly everyone had left one of Bill's shows just to have some face time with him, barely being able to sqeak out a few short comments. Strange. I think I'm afraid of being seen as a 'nut' type fan...who knows. One time I showed up to a Bill concert in the Lou before the doors even opened. I had a good buddy from HS/College with me, and I was mocking this guy who was milling around outside the club who always shows up early to get a good seat so he can record the Bill shows...until it dawned on me that I wouldn't know how big a 'geek' this guy was (getting to the show REALLY early) unless I was there to witness the guy being there so early...sheesh. I daydreamed of getting Bill to go have some pancakes with me in the wee hours of the morning, but alas, I couldn't really choke the invitation out of my mouth...

Now I live on the Gulf Coast, and it seems that Bill don't get 'round here muchly. Maybe the next time I see him I'll be a bit more...geeky and nutty fan-ish.

I'd like to blame all this on the incident that I had with Joe Elliot the lead singer of Def Leppard in 1983 when he saw me walking toward him with a picture of the band in one hand and a pen in the other. "Oh ***t," he said, and ran away from me. But then again...it might just be me...although Joe would make a nice scapegoat.
