Less than a week until we leave, Lord willing! This time Makoto is coming back with us, along with the much anticipated Erik O'Dell. It should be fun, though the house will be crowded with Mr. and Miss Simon staying there as well.
I have two major tasks I'm trying to accomplish before the break. The first is to read a 400 page book on the Civil War in American memory for this first 50 post war years. Of course, a paper is attached to it. I actually really enjoy studying the Civil War in American memory. I read a book called Confederates in the Attic last semester for a history class, and that re-kindled my interest in the Civil War. So this assignment, while somewhat substantial, should be interesting.
The second task is to complete an open book Apologetics test. It is also a group test, so I only have to answer one substantial question. Our group does have to discuss it all quite thoroughly though. This particular section of the course has been brutal. It has been on the history of apologetics/philosophy, and my head wants to explode. Philosophy is definitely a weak point of mine. After the break we have a 75 minute presentation to do on Open Theism. 45 minutes to present, and 30 minutes Q&A. Aaaaarrghhh!!!
Funny, I didn't think I had anything to say for this blog.

Charlie and the Reeses Peanut Butter Cup
Charlie ate a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup over the weekend. I gave it to him while we watched the Princess Bride with Meghan. Charlie would like another Reeses Peanut Butter Cup.
I've decided not to come back to Covenant. I really don't enjoy my time here, and I'm paying more money for a less usable degree. I really don't want to do anything with a history degree anyway, but at this point it is the only degree I care to pursue. Besides, I've taken so many courses within the history field by this point I should stick with it. At SMS or MSU or whatever it is now, I can get a history degree with a teachers certificate, and I can complete ROTC. I wouldn't mind exploring teaching history at the high school level, but that is about it in terms of a history degree. ROTC is the top priority, so I will see where that goes. History is a good, broad degree for many careers; the problem is that there is no shortage of history degrees these days, and a general history degree requires much graduate work. I don't really want to go to grad school right away.
Anyway, that is why I came back to Springfield over the weekend. I talked to my dad and Pastor Grotenhuis, and I went to MSU to handle matters there. I liked SMS, and it wasn't easy for me to leave. After I made my decision I wrestled with it for the remainder of my time at SMS. Covenant didn't fit me very well, and so I shall return.
Too bad I have to finish up the rest of this semester. It has been quite challenging. Much left to do. This week is busy.
